Looking forward to a day off tomorrow followed by a day at the wood on the pheasants.

That said at least our women folk dont have trouble parking the pick up trucks when they collect us and our dawgs from the pub after a little post shoot socialising. Thats more than can be said for the old Kitchens
The comments are worthy of a perusal, tthat is until the usual women are better or equal to men bollox starts being spouted by the right on lefty tofu munching guardianista types. I suspect the address' of the more virulent anti Chinese rants are such kewl addresses as Santa Monica and Hampstead!
Not much fuss from them when ye olde chinese vengeance was visited upon the chap unlucky enough to be found guilty for smuggling drugs. Still he wont be doing that again!

Yesterday was a fine day, down in Hampshire at the farm shoot;
Arthur worked exceptionally well, he managed a fantastic long hidden/unseen retrieve over at the ring of trees. Samson was a diamond as well unseen retrieves in very long grass.
The dogs certainly were keen barking all the way there, 2 hours and 100 miles of driving;

Five held in poaching crackdown
Police say poaching is a highly organised criminal activity
Five men have been arrested and a large number of guns seized during a crackdown on deer poaching.
Sussex Police said 50 officers found firearms, animal carcasses and meat, including deer and wild boar, during dawn raids across the county on Monday.
Five men, aged between 21 and 74, were arrested on suspicion of carrying out offences under the Deer Act 1991.
Police said they were responding to concerns about "highly organised poaching for big profits".
Officers from the National Wildlife Crime Unit and staff from the RSPCA, Trading Standards, Rother District Council and the British Association for Shooting and Conservation, also took part in the raids on properties in Bexhill, Brightling, Ninfield, Robertsbridge, Salehurst and Broad Oak, Heathfield.
Ch Insp Heather Keating said: "This is not a romanticised image of the local poacher taking one for the pot, but a highly organised and criminal taking of wild animals for big profits.
"We are responding to local concerns about the scale of the problem and will continue to react to any direct reports of poaching or evidence of its taking place, such as discarded deer heads, feet and entrails."
Alan Roberts, from the National Wildlife Crime Unit, said: "Commercial poaching is a serious problem on various levels including public health, where meat is introduced illegally into the system, and public safety, as many of the deer are shot at night using high powered weapons.
"There is also a significant risk to animals not killed in a clinical, professional manner and with weapons not suitable for the size of beast."

Well I couldnt find the link but here is something close.
Anyway that was a few years ago and here is something for the shed lovers amongst us.
£50 thousand pounds for a shed? Well all I can say is I hope it is female free!
I know it is the sticks, I know Boreham street is very nice, I shot there long enough, but 50K for a shed? Perhaps I need to sort out my summerhouse?

The bag is starting to look respectable, pity it was the last drive. Looking like an opening day, as usual we saluted plenty and bagged enough for those interested to take a bird home!
At the divvy up Elmer turns up along with the tea lady and the rug rats, the bag is looking better, 3 woodcock, 1 hen pheasant and 4 cock pheasants;
Who'd have thought it, kids with guns behaving responsibly and enjoying themselves, great isnt it;
As I look out of the window at the appalling weather and hope this afternoons stalking will be dry!

For those readers overseas or those who never have been beating before its a good way to earn your sport;
First you need to put the guns around the cover where you think the birds are, line up beaters, unleash the dogs and conduct a break in. The hardest part has to be not opening fire on pigeons as its the Partridges and Pheasants we really want.
The dogs run freely in the thick cover but the beaters try to maintain some sort of line.
The total for the day was 11 & 1/2 brace, not as big as some but all were well earnt;The wettest drive back ever and a day at a ten pin bowling tournament followed. Still I managed to sort out another 10 lbs of venison for mincing into bangers!

Until then perhaps you can have a laugh at this idiot or perhaps wish like me to be able to re educate his brother;
Now this person is deserving of your support, I dont want you to send them any money, it can gho to someone who needs it, what I want you to do is read this.
Nice to see resistance against the enemy continues.
its not as if they do anything decent anymore, the latest so called attempts at comedy, the impression show and comedy road show suck like only a sucking chest wound can!
Even with canned laughter its still miles better than the usual pish the BBC produces, Mock the week and Have I got news for you being the only exceptions.
This is amusing as a mate has recently started work for these;
Anyway that will have to do as River Cottage is about to start!
